Leon was a graduate of Nute High School in Milton and achieved Eagle Scout with the Boys Scouts of America.
Leon enlisted with the United States Air Force in 1969, stationed first at Lakenheath, England. He served for 38 years, involved with Operation Freedom and Desert Storm, and retired SMS with the Air National Guard at the former Pease Air Force Base.
Leon was a member of the American Legion in Milton. He enjoyed working on cars for fun, NASCAR races, gardening and traveling; having just enjoyed a trip with his wife to Hawaii.
Survived by his wife of 48 years: Cynthia Ann (Bergeron) Mooers and their two sons: Leonard W. Mooers and wife Robyn and grandchildren, Dakota and Shianne, of Alvin, Texas, Jonathan M. Mooers and granddaughter McKayla W. Mooers, of Milton, N.H.; a brother Rodney Scott Mooers and wife Crystal; and his first great-grandson expected in April. Predeceased by his parents, a brother James Michael Mooers and grandparents.
SERVICES: Calling hours are Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central St., Farmington, N.H. Interment will follow at Milton Mills Cemetery, with military honors by the USAF at 12:45 p.m.
