Lena G. (Worrell) Bailey Head, 97, of Avon, passed away December 20, 2017 in the Hearth of Prestwick. Born April 20, 1920 in Pittsboro, she was the daughter of Claude and Bernice (Denny) Worrell. Lena graduated from Avon High School in 1938 and was one of the oldest living Alumni. She worked as a paymaster at Methodist Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1976. She was a charter and life member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority in Danville, E S A Athena Chapter, Pittsboro Chapter #416 and a 50 year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was also a 50 year member of the Lizton Christian Church where she had served as treasurer.

Survivors include her sisters, Edna E. Falls, Elma E. Pickel; stepchildren, Judy Frost, Bonnie Wilson, Mark Head, Jeannie Newton; 15 step grandchildren, 26 step great grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews; 11 great nieces and nephews; 30 great-great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great-great nieces and nephews. Her parents; husbands, Ronald M. Bailey, Harry E. Head; siblings, Thelma J. Pryor, Conrad C. Worrell, Robert Sowle and stepson, Bruce Head, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 in Baker Funeral Home, Danville, with burial to follow in K of P Cemetery, Lizton.
