Todd A. Briggs

HINSDALE - Todd A. Briggs, formerly of Hinsdale, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (Dec. 6, 2017).

Born Oct. 18, 1981, in Olean, he was the son of Randy and Debra Chapman Opferbeck.

Todd was a 1999 graduate of Hinsdale Central School. He moved to Texas for ten years and returned to the Olean area, where he worked for The ReHabilitation Center.

He was a member of the band; Applaud the Pain, recording and touring with the band in Texas; and played the guitar with several other bands including CHUMP in Olean.

He was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball and riding his motorcycle.

Todd had a wonderful sense of humor, a big heart and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was loved by all who knew him.

Surviving are his mom and dad, Debra and Randy "Randillio" (as Todd called him) Opferbeck of Allegany; his siblings, Jonna Briggs of Franklinville, David (Kimberly) Briggs of Round Rock, Texas and Jared (Kristi) Briggs of Dripping Springs, Texas; a step-brother, Derek Opferbeck; aunts and uncles, Alvin (Colleen) Chapman, Bruce (Margie Gubbini) Chapman, Carol (Roger) Snyder, Nick (Carol Ann) Briggs and Kevin (Cindy) Opferbeck; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Shelly) Michael, Courtney (Casey James) Michael, Emmy Michael, Rilyn Briggs, Kelan and Ryland Haynes, Brodan, Nytan and Jastyn Briggs; grandnieces and grandnephews, Flynn and Jax Michael and Olivia James; grandparents, Bill and Doris Opferbeck; great-uncles Harold Andrus, Dick (Kate) Opferbeck and Ged Opferbeck; and many cousins.

He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Warren and Irene Chapman; and his paternal grandparents, Loren and Sue Briggs.

Burial will be in Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Franklinville and will be private.
