J. Ira Espenshade

J. Ira Espenshade, husband of Amy Pickel Espenshade, of Honey Brook RD 2, died early today at the Coatesville Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past two days. He was 70.

Born in Pottstown, he was the son of Charles W. and Clara Heffner Espenshade. He had resided at Honey Brook RD 2 since 1925 and prior to that had lived in Coatesville.

Mr. Espenshade retired in 1958 from Lukens Steel Co., Coatesville, after 24 years of service. At the time of his retirement, he was the assistant superintendent of Plant 4.

He was a veteran of World War 1, Co. G., 103rd Ammunition Train, 28th Division, and was a member of Joseph M. Riley Post 36, Society of the 28th Division, West Chester, the Lukens Veteran's Guild and the Coatesville Eagles Lodge.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joseph I., of Honey Brook RD 2; a daughter, Evelyn, wife of Garland Edwards, or Romulus, Mich.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend services from the S. Paul Funeral Home 1030 E. Lincoln Hwy., Coatesville, on Saturday, March 14, 1964, at 2 p.m. Interment Fairview Cemetery. At the request of the family there will be no viewing.
