She was born March 22, 1931, in Cherokee County, SC to the late Israel Goode and the late Queen Smith Goode.
Jeanell was educated and graduated from the Gaston County School Systems and was formerly employed with Cannon Mills.
Jeanell was a member of Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, former Usher Board member, Missionaries and Hannah’s Prayer Group.
Services will be held on Tuesday, December 19, at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 216 Rice Street, Kannapolis, NC. Visitation will be 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM with funeral services at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Eathon June Smith; her daughter, Mary Ella Smith; her sister, Kathleen Littlejohn and her brother, E. F. Goode.
Those left to cherish fond memories include two daughters, Carolyn Harris (Tony) of Huntersville and Valerie Gousha (Al) of Fayetteville, GA; two sons, Leon Smith (Shelby) of Kannapolis and Verner Smith (Joyce) of Charlotte; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Frances Jordan of Kannapolis; two brothers, Raymond Goode (Judy) of Virginia Beach, VA and Rev. Timothy Goode of Kings Mountain, NC and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
