Edna was born February 18, 1927 in Luckenbach to Fred & Ella (Kusenberger) Birck. She married Milton “Mike” Knaupp on December 5, 1944 and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2017. She attended school in Luckenbach. After working forCollins of Texas creating handbags and Thee and Me making custom children’s clothing, Edna spent over two decades at James Avery Jewelry. Edna was a devoted member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and enjoyed dancing, sewing, gardening, baking, telling jokes, playing solitaire, playing 42 at Rheingold and making grand Sunday dinners for family. After her retirement, she also sewed countless quilts for donation through Lutheran World Relief. Her crafty hands and eye for detail were among her many assets.
Edna is survived by two sons and spouses; Michael & Patricia Knaupp and Kerby and Bonnie Knaupp all of Fredericksburg; a sister, Dorothy Herbort and brother and spouse, Freddie & Mary Birck.
Oma is also survived by 6 granddaughters including Marty (Nathan) Dressen, Kristy (Brett) Beyer, Casey (Joe) Murphy, Holly (Luke) Hill, Kira Knaupp, and Angie Knaupp (fiancé Asa Daugherty) as well as 6 great grandchildren including Ashley Dressen, Brody & Kaden Beyer, Dean Murphy and Addison & Hayden Hill.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ruby (Levi) Deike, brothers-in-law Henry Louis Herbort & Lester (Dorothy) Knaupp as well as sisters-in-law Christine (Walter) Ottmers, Lora Daigle (Bill) Thiele, Beulah (Lee) Oatman, Elka Knaupp, Emmie (Harry) Gold and Gretchen (Freddie) Gold.
Pallbearers include Nathan Dressen, Brett Beyer, Joe Murphy, Luke Hill, Duane Herbort, and Dean Herbort.
Her body will lie in state in the Chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home until 11:30 a.m. on Monday, February 19th and from 12:30-1:30 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Cave Creek with services at 1:30 in church.
Graveside services and interment will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Cave Creek.
In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Hill Country Hospice or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
