Lane Larance, 85, of Wichita Falls, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2017.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. on Monday, December 18, 2017, at Floral Heights United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Yeager officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 3 until 4 p.m. on Sunday at Lunn's.
A son of the late Elice (Aycock) and Aubin Burdet Larance, Lane was born on September 4, 1932, at the family home in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana. He was part of a large family that hailed from the rural area north of Ruston. He was very intelligent and as a young man saw education as his ticket to the rest of the world. After graduating from Louisiana Tech with a degree in Petroleum Engineering, Lane began his professional career with Magnolia Oil.
The day after graduation, he, his wife Betty (Burch) and their new born baby Benji, moved to Portales, New Mexico. After stops in Morgan City, Louisiana, where his daughter, Laura (Holzer) was born, and Midland, Texas, he settled in Wichita Falls during the summer of 1959. A second son, Paul, was born in Wichita Falls.
Eventually, Lane was given an opportunity to open his own consulting firm, Larance Engineering Company, in 1976 serving such many of the North Texas independents such as Taubert and Steed, Bridwell Oil Company, LT Burns Estate, Medders Oil and Perkins-Prothro.
Lane was married to his second wife, Mary Gay (Robertson), on April 10, 1976.
Along with his parents, Lane was also preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Mary Gay Larance; (anyone else who preceded such as siblings, children, etc.)\
He is survived by children, Benjamin (Benji) Larance and wife, Lisa of Littleton, CO; Laura Holzer and husband, Reggie of College Station, TX; and Paul Larance and wife, Eileen of Lone, Tree, CO; step-children, Bo Rinard of Wichita Falls; Zac Rinard and wife Jan of Lubbock, TX; Gay Ann Witt and husband, Mark; and Beth Lahman and husband, Ronald, all of Montague County; 4 grandchildren; 9 step-grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews.
