Billy F. Hanson, 84, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014. Service: 12:30 p.m. Saturday in Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park of Fort Worth. Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Laurel Land Funeral Home.

Billy was born Sept. 10, 1929, to Fred and Gertrude Hanson. He graduated from Longview High School in 1948 and won many medals running high hurdles and mile relays. He attended Texas A&M and graduated from the University of North Texas in 1953. He married Thada Summers in 1952. After graduating from UNT, he served two years in the Air Force. After serving his country, he went to work for Hoechst Pharmaceuticals Co. and retired after 30 years as Southwest regional manager. After retirement, he spent most of his time on Lake Cherokee, fishing and riding his wave runner.

Survivors: His loving wife of 61 years, Thada Hanson; sons, Mike and Ken Hanson; daughter, Kay Greenlee and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Matthew, Nicolas, Michael, Patrick, Sara, Natalie, Brittany, Becky and Donovan; great-grandson, Aiden Barton; and many loving family and friends.
