On June 18, 1976, he married the love of his life Debra Clyburn at Greenville, MO.
Cecil was a 1976 Clearwater High School graduate. On November 22, 1977, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served honorably for 23 years retiring as a master sergeant. His career in the Air Force took him to Lackland AFB for basic training and Chanute AFB, IL, for jet engine school. Cecil’s first duty assignment was Blytheville AFB with the 9th Bombardment Wing; his second assignment was England AFB in Louisiana with the 23rd Tactical Fighter Wing “Flying Tigers,” and his third and final assignment was with the 314th Tactical Airlift Wing at Little Rock AFB. Over the years Cecil had deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of the Gulf War and had also served in support of many humanitarian operations and relief efforts in Haiti, Somalia, and Bosnia. Throughout his career in the Air Force he served as crew chief on aircraft B-52’s, C-130’s, and his favorite the A-10.
After retirement he continued his work in the aviation industry for the Textron Companies at Little Rock for seventeen years and later Wichita, as a A & P mechanic and finally a supervisor in the customer service department.
Cecil enjoyed his time in the aviation industry and in spare time he enjoyed his family, deer hunting, fishing, and the outdoors. He was a provider that was never idle. Caring for his family was his priority.
