Dorothy E. (Hardenberger) Janko, 86 years of age, of Falls City, passed away Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Falls City Healthcare Community in Falls City. She was born on February 28, 1931 in Grey Eagle, Minneasota to James and Lela (LaMiller) Hardenberger. Dorothy married Richard Shefferd and later divorced. She married Jerry Janko in May of 1963. She worked at the Falls City Creamery, sewing factory, Stephenson Motel, Ketter Manor and Falls City Care Center as a CNA. Dorothy enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with all of her grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her children, James Shefferd and wife Mary of Pawnee Rock, Kansas, Joseph Shefferd of Falls City, Jerri Elwonger and husband Martin of Falls City, Kathy Andrew and husband Pat of Brownville, Elizabeth Kaster and husband Mike of Falls City, John Janko of Falls City; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and one on the way; 1 great great grandchild; and 1 brother, Delmar Hardenberger. She was preceded in death by her parents; second husband Jerry Janko in January of 1993; 2 sisters, Lois Nissen, Betty Belvins; 4 brothers, Clayton, Eric, Dean, Jimmy; and an infant brother.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 15th, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Falls City with Rev. Judith A. Dye officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the Bohemian Cemetery near Table Rock. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice in care of the funeral home. Hall Funeral Chapel in Falls City in charge of arrangements.
