Bennie "Ben" Broiles passed away on December 11, 2017 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Ben was born on March 8, 1931 to Una Robinson Broiles and Emmett Broiles in Gober, Texas.

He was raised on the family farm along with his seven brothers and sisters. After graduation from Gober High, Ben attended Draughon’s Business College in Dallas while simultaneously holding at least two jobs. In October of 1953, Ben married his wife Pat Brown of Bonham.

Ben started his first career in the mail room of Guardian Savings and Loan in downtown Dallas. He worked his way up the ladder to the position of Sr. Vice President and loan officer. After 25 years, he retired to change careers. About this time, the family moved back to Fannin county because Ben never lost his passion to stay close to the farm, raising cattle, various stray animals and a garden that produced some of the finest cantaloupes.

His second career, was in the paper products sales business, initially working for Nichols Paper until he attained enough experience and local customers to open his own business – Ben’s Paper Supply Company. Ben retired for his second time after providing more than 20 years of dedicated paper supply to some very fine, loyal customers.

He is preceded in death by his parents Una and Emmett Broiles of Gober, Texas and three siblings, Ruth, James and Emmett Jr.

Ben is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patricia Ann Brown Broiles of Bonham, Texas, two sons, Randy Broiles and wife Cindy of Houston and Gary Broiles and wife Liz of Spring, Texas. Ben has three grandchildren, Kim Graeter and husband Chris of Houston, Thomas Broiles and wife Ellie of Portland, Oregon and Laura Broiles of Spring, Texas. Ben is also survived by two great grandchildren, Larkin Graeter of Houston and Leah Postell of Spring, Texas. Additionally, he is survived by four siblings, Iris Wigley of Austin, Peggy Cummings of Fort Worth, Luetta Callahan of Bonham and Mack Broiles of Sherman, Texas.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the Wise Funeral Home Chapel. The funeral will be presided over by Rev. Dr. Cherie Fry of Heart to Heart Hospice. Following the funeral service, Ben will be moved to Arledge Ridge Cemetery for burial.
