Abe Buchanan Addams, 91, passed away Sunday December 10, 2017 at Norton Hosparus Inpatient Care Center. He was born on July 12, 1926 in Louisville and had been a resident of Colesburg, KY.

Abe was very active in the Kentucky Republican Party. He was a close friend and automobile driver for former Governor Louie B. Nunn. He had owned and operated a welding shop in Lebanon Junction, KY for 20 years and a battery reclamation shop in Lexington. He also had owned and operated English Station Stables in Louisville. Abe was a 1943 graduate of Male High School and named Kentucky's outstanding High School Athlete. He went on to be a star football player for the University of Indiana. Abe had played NFL football with the Detroit Lions (1948-1949), he was the NFL's longest living player! He was a member of St. Clair Catholic Church in Colesburg , KY and was a proud Army Air Corps World War II Veteran.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Horace Addams.

He is survived by his loving wife of 16 years the former Prudence Zollinger; sons, Abe Buchanan "Bucky" Jr. (Kim), John Robert Moore and Andrew Bright Moore IV; daughters, Neisja Yenawine and Lynda Addams, sixteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

His Mass of Resurrection will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday December 13, 2017 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 8709 Preston Hwy. followed by cremation. Visitation will be Tuesday December 12, from 2 - 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at the Church. His ashes will be buried 12:30 p.m. Monday December 18, 2017 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery.
