Charles Oshel “Monk” Neal, Sr, 68, of Portland, OH, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, December 10, 2017, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born June 25, 1949 in West Columbia, WV, a son of the late Ray “Jaybird” Neal and Mildred (Martin) Neal of West Columbia, WV. In addition to his father, he was preceded by his brother, Eugene Neal; grandparents; and his father and mother-in-law, Glenn and Kate Standiford.

He was a professional drywall man and was a member of the Laborers Union Local #543, Huntington, WV. He loved to hunt with his brothers, sons, grandsons, cousins, and friends He also loved to fish and help friends and family whenever he could. He was a very talented man.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Neal, of Portland, OH; sons, Charles “Chuck” Neal, Jr. and his wife, Joy; James Neal and his girlfriend, Kelly all of Portland; daughter, April Neal of Portland; grandchildren, Cody and his wife, Ashley; Hunter, Josalyn, and Abagail; great-granchildren, Bentley and Tyler; brothers, Jimmy Neal and his wife Jenny of West Columbia, Tim Neal and his wife Patty of West Columbia; sisters, Virginia Bernard of West Columbia and Debbie Lambert of West Columbia; a special aunt, Goldie of Aliquippa, PA; and many nieces and nephews.

Service will be 1 p.m.~ Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Foglesong Funeral Home, Mason, WV, with Elder Denny Evans officiating. Burial will follow in Graham Station Cemetery, New Haven, WV. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements provided by Foglesong Funeral Home, Mason, WV.
