BRAMHALL/BOHANNON - James Polk Bramhall, the third son of Thomas J. and Elizabeth Broyles Bramhall was born Sept. 11, 1869 near Grovespring, MO. On Feb 21, 1900 when Jim was 30 years old he married Nora Dell Bohannon. She was born Sept. 4, 1878 in Wright County, the daughter of William and Frances Hillhouse Bohannon. Jim and Nora spent practically all their lives in Wright County. In 1880 he purchased a farm east of Hartville on the Gasconade River.
They had two children: Verna Frances (Nov. 22, 1900) married Roy Saladin, then Elmer Johnson; Walter Ramon (Jan. 8, 1903) married Kathleen young. About 1914 Jim and Nora built a house in Hartville so the children would be nearer to the high school when the time came. This house is just west of the present high school.
Jim accepted Christ in August 1902 and was baptized but never joined with any church, although he always attended church and Sunday school and helped in the support of the ministry. Nora professed Christ as a young girl and joined the Methodist Church at Cold Water. She never missed a service as long as she was able to go, always singing in the choir and doing what she could to promote the cause of Christ.
Nora was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 52 years and a member of the Rebeckah Lodge for 42 years, both of Hartville. According to Nora, she was known to be able to bake the tallest angel food cake in Wright County.
Jim died July 9, 1945 and Nora died Dec. 11, 1960. Both are buried in Cold Water Cemetery, near Manes
