Dover-Foxcroft- Earl Maurice Wiley, 97, passed away November 29, 2017, in Dover-Foxcroft. He was born January 3, 1920, in Dover-Foxcroft, the son of Guy E. and Mildred (Pratt) Wiley. He was a member of the U.S. Navy, and served overseas during WWII in motor transport. Earl received numerous medals and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He was also a member of the National Guard. Earl then returned home to work at Buzzell’s Garage until going to work for the State of Maine, Department of Transportation.
Earl is survived by his brother, Clifford L. Wiley, of Dover-Foxcroft, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be missed by friends and family. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Phyllis Hatch Wiley and 5 brothers and sisters, Robert Wiley, Kathryn Greene, Claire Wiley, Marie Doore, and Caroline Green.
A graveside celebration of Earl’s life will be announced in the spring at the family lot in Dover Cemetery, Dover-Foxcroft. Arrangements are in the care of the Lary Funeral Home. Messages of condolence may be expressed at www.laryfuneralhome.com.
