Zona “Zonie” Maxine Timms

Age 95, of Hinzman Street, Weston, WV passed away peacefully at 7:30 PM on Friday, December 08, 2017 in the Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Jane Lew.

She was born in Lewis County, WV on December 13, 1921 a daughter of the late William Thomas Burkhammer and Dona Opal Cutright Burkhammer.

On August 13, 1954 she married Paul Lee Timms and they celebrated 36 years of marriage before his passing on September 14, 1990.

Her strong, kind spirit will be carried on by her two children, one son and one daughter, five siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four siblings: Elsie Queen, Arnet Burkhammer, Verda Beachler, and Helen Zemples.

For more than 20 years, Zona worked as a cook for Lewis County Schools where she touched the lives of countless children, who appreciated her extra special attention. She was passionate about cooking and baking, and especially enjoyed helping with the dinners at the First Presbyterian Church in Weston, where she had been a member since she was a little girl. During the Christmas season, her kitchen was often filled with the aromas of homemade hard tack candy. She also enjoyed feeding the birds, watching WVU sports, and visiting with her neighbors.

Friends and family will gather at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Road in Jane Lew from 10 AM - 12 Noon on Monday, December 11, 2017.

Funeral Services will follow at 12 Noon from the Pat Boyle Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bruce Macbeth officiating.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew.

Donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Weston in memory of Zonie.
