George C. Ashton Sr., lifelong resident of Bensalem, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was 82.

George was co-owner of Ashton Brothers Inc., a fuel distribution and trucking company, which inspired his love for Mack trucks.

An avid fisherman, he was also known among friends and family as the 'Mayor of Mud City' in Manahawkin, N.J. Mostly, George very much enjoyed fishing with his friends and crabbing at his 'Dock of the Bay'. George also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and in his younger days, playing softball.

George was a graduate of Bensalem High School, Class of 1949.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ann A. (Achs) Ashton; five children, Nancy L. Anderson (Jack deceased), Marylynne Ashton-Raftery (Kevin), George C. Jr., Luanne Ashton-DiPaolo (Joseph), and Robert J. Ashton Sr.(Dina). He also is survived by 11 grandchildren, Jessie (Donna), William (Laurie) and George (Kim) Anderson. Laura Wingerter (James), Carolyn Graham (William), Amy Ashton, George C. III, Leanne Fryling (Zachary), Sean P. Raftery, Robert Ashton Jr., and Erin A. Raftery; six great grandchildren, Owen, Clay, and Olivia Anderson, Ryan Graham, Ella Wingerter and Charlotte Graham; his brother, Louis V. Ashton and his sister, Mary A. Trapp.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, in the Tomlinson Funeral Home, P.C. 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, PA 19020, followed by his service at 11 a.m. Interment will be Vandegrift Cemetery.
