Following high school graduation in Washington, Georgia, Jean attended Tift College, graduating in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. Also that same year, she married Forrest Clinton Castellaw, Jr. of McDonough, Georgia, her husband of 63 years. She taught school in Henry County, Georgia until moving to Lenoir in 1959. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir, where she served as Teacher, Deacon, and Life Deacon and Church Hostess for ten years. She was also a sustaining member of the Lenoir Service League.
Survivors include her husband Forrest Clinton Castellaw, of the home; one son, Dave C. Castellaw and wife Teresa of Hickory; two daughters, Monie Foster and husband Steve of Mocksville and Angie Story and husband Richard of Lenoir; two sisters, Laverne Edwards of Winston-Salem and Angie Strother of Washington, Georgia; five grandchildren, Blair Foster Schmidt and husband Eric, Hunter Foster and wife Abby, Clinton Story, Durham Castellaw, and Cooper Castellaw; and one great-grandson, Trevor Schmidt.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 10, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church of Lenoir conducted by Rev. Josh Hughes and Rev. Thomas Hinton. Inurnment will be private.The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor.
