Craig William Abshire of Charles Town went to heaven on Dec. 5, 2017. He was born on May 17, 1950 to Helen L. (Tharp) Abshire. Craig graduated from Charles Town High School in 1969. He served in the 157th National Guard (Military police). He married Annette M. Viana on April 19, 1975, and would be celebrating 43 years in April. They had two children, Leslie M. Abshire, of Charles Town, Devin E. Abshire and his fiancé Serena Fogle, of Martinsburg. He has four grandchildren Oakley Abshire, Hunter Locke, Connor Abshire and Josaiah Fogle. Survived by his sister, Carrie Abshire of Florida. He worked for the Central Intelligence Agency for 37 years. He had been retired for the past 11 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Craig coached little league baseball in the 80’s and coached the raiders in youth football. Craig started coaching wrestling at (JJWA) Jefferson Junior Wrestling Association in the mid 80’s. He coached his son, Devin and his grandson, Hunter. He has mentored and coached many many children in the past 30 years, and has meant so much to so many. Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 8, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Ranson. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Singhas officiating.
Interment will be at Edge Hill Cemetery, Charles Town.
