PORTAGE — Mildred E. "Mille" Pease, age 83, died on Saturday, July 2, 1994, at 10:30 a.m., at her home in Portage, Wisconsin. The former Mildred Elizabeth Smith was born on February 18, 1911, in Marcellon Township, Columbia County, Wisconsin, to Alf [Alpha] and Florence (Austin) Smith. On November 3, 1927 she was united in marriage to Merle Pease in Waukegan, Illinois. He preceded her in death. She spent most of her married life in Wyocena, moving to Portage in 1986. Millie worked for Badger Ordinance, the Portage Elks Lodge as a waitress, and most recently at Wilz's Drug Store. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Pansey Rebecca Lodge, and the V.F.W. Cleary-Frech Post #1707 Auxiliary. Survivors include her son; a sister, Gertrude (Donald) Zamzow of Wisconsin Dells; two brothers, John (Evelyn) Smith of Marcellon Township and Gerald Smith of Portage; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law; and other near relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Joseph Pease; a daughter, Beverly Lester; and a sister, Gladys Henry. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 1994, at 10:30 a.m. from the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Portage, with Reverend C. Keith Epps and Reverend Wm Kermott officiating. Burial will be in the Wyocena Cemetery at Wyocena. Friends may call at the PORT-AXTEL FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, July 5, 1994, from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., where the V.F.W. Cleary-Krech Post #1707 Auxiliary will hold a memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
