Roy Housh, Ex-Sheriff Of Jefferson Co., Dies.
Roy HOUSH, 58, former sheriff of Jefferson County, died Wednesday in a Topeka hospital after a long illness.He was born near Winchester and had been a lifelong resident of Jefferson County.
He was in the sheriff's office from 1932 to 1940. He served four years as undersheriff and four as sheriff. He afterward was an employee of the Oskaloosa Post Office until he became ill four years ago. He was a member of the Oskaloosa Masonic Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lucy Housh, of the home in Oskaloosa; a daughter, Mrs. Beth Eileen WILLIAMS, Hoyt; a son, Russell Housh of the home; two brothers, Fred Housh, Topeka, and Charles Housh, Winchester, and seven sisters, Mrs. Rosa JONES, Mrs. Myrtle RICHARDSON, Mrs. Mamie EDMONDS, Mrs. Nina BROWN, and Mrs. Leona EDMONDS, all of Topeka; Mrs. Lola GIBSON and Mrs. Etta COOK, both of Winchester. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Winchester Christian Church with burial in Wise Cemetery.
