Holsapple
John C. Holsapple died at his home near Centralia, Kansas, on the 27th day of June, 1903, aged 62 years, 7 months, 3 days. Mr. Holsapple was born in Virginia, Oct.* 14, 1850. He moved with his parents to Missouri when he was seven years old. Was married to Miss Ella Carson in June of 1878. To this union were born three sons and two daughters. A number of years ago they came to Kansas and located near Centralia. Mrs. Holsapple died July 11, 1890.
Mr. Holsapple was married to Mary E. Woolman January 1, 1892. To them were born three sons and one daughter.

The following eulogy was written by one of his neighbors:
"John Holsapple has made his home here for sixteen years. He was a hard working man, a good neighbor, a kind father and always willing to lend a helping hand to a neighbor or friend. Mr. Holsapple was a firm believer in the Golden Rule and adhered to it closely in all his dealings with his fellow man. He leaves a mother, five brothers, three sisters, a loving wife and family to mourn their loss."

The funeral was held from his late home on Sunday afternoon June 28. Serman by P.K. Shoemaker. Burial services were conducted at the grave by his masonic brethren.

"We laid him by the friends that traveled with him long ago,
One by one they left him struggling with the foe;
Their pilgrimage was shorter, their triumphs sooner won;
How lovingly they'll hail him when his toil is done!
Patiently he waited the time and way that's best;
When wasted, worn and weary, we laid him down to rest."

Friends and neighbors were very kind during this affliction and bereavement, for which sympathy and help the wife and family are truly thankful.
