It was a beautiful summer day, on August 6, 1927 when Helen Zelda Walker was born at Castle Hill Plantation in Cismont, Virginia. Her Father, Percy Franklin Walker and Mother, Dulcie Virginia Clasby Walker were blessed to have her join the family, which included her oldest brother, Earl.

Several years later after moving to a small farmhouse in Cismont, sister Hazel, brother James, and sister Myra Lee completed the Walker household. They were raised in a Christian home.

Growing up on the farm imprinted lasting memories on Helen. Her love of nature, flowers, gardening and animals was obvious everywhere she called home.

Helen graduated from Falmouth High School, Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1945.

She returned home to Cismont and was employed at the Pencil Factory in Charlottesville where she met the love of her life, Holland Everett Chisholm. Holland and Helen were married on May 19, 1951. A little over a year later, their first and only son Everett Randolph Chisholm was born. Holland and Helen resided in Cismont and then relocated to Charlottesville Virginia. On May 6, 1955 Vicki Carol Chisholm, the first of four daughters blessed their home. Helen stayed home to raise the children while Holland worked and supported the growing family. Helen’s love of the Lord and her Faith led her to the Charlottesville First Church of the Nazarene where she has been a member for over 60 years. Their second daughter, Tammy Jo Chisholm, arrived as another sweet blessing on September 18, 1957. The family continued to grow, and the house was always full of love and laughter. In the winter of January 5, 1965, the family was again blessed with identical twin daughters, Janet Gail Chisholm and Judith Dale Chisholm. This double delivery was the last and completed the Chisholm clan.

After a humble and well-fought battle with Myelodysplastic Syndrome and Leukemia, Helen passed peacefully at home on Thursday, November 30, 2017.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother Earl and sister Hazel Walker Brown.

She is survived by her brother Earl’s wife Ruby, sister Myra Lee and husband Don Sandridge, and brother James Walker and wife Ruth.

Her son Randy and grandson Shane Everett Woodson. Daughter Vicki and granddaughters Nicole Roberts (Mike) and Megan Roberts (Sal). Daughter Tammy Hall and husband Jerry and grandson’s Eric and Chad Hall (Elizabeth) and granddaughter Kimberly Hall Maupin (Guy). Her twins, Janet Chisholm Pond and grandsons, Calvin Edward Wilkerson, III (Trey) and Schuyler Dalton Wilkerson (Taylor) and Judith Chisholm Newton and granddaughter Casey Michaela Dudley.

Helen is also survived by sixteen, precious great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

A graveside service, celebrating 90 years of a remarkable life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, 10 December 2017 at Monticello Memory Gardens.

Family requests that monetary donations be sent in her memory to the Saunders-Monticello Trail. https://www.monticello.org/site/visit/saunders-monticello-trail
