William Edmund Loosmore passed away peacefully at his home in Waitsburg, WA on Aug 29, 2016 at the age of 85.
He was born May 4, 1931 in Spokane, WA to John and Irene (Carabin) Loosmore. He began his education at St. Patrick’s Catholic School and continued his high school education at Gonzaga Preparatory. He also attended Gonzaga University. Bill worked for Kaiser Aluminum before being hired onto the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1952. In 1969 he was transferred to Breckenridge, MN working as a Trainmaster. After a short stop in Whitefish MT, he transferred to Onalaska WI working as an Assistant Superintendent, returning to Sandpoint, ID in 1979 where he worked until his retirement in 1994.
He was involved in Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineer and The Elks. He also lectured at various churches he was involved with. Bill was devout Catholic attending elementary, high school and college in his Catholic faith. After retiring he spent many hours volunteering his time and talents to his church in Waitsburg, WA. Bill's faith, family and friends were the most important to him. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and his nightly reading of religious articles.
Bill married Joan Potter on January 15, 1951 and had 4 sons-Thomas, William Jr, Donald and Timothy. 4 daughters-Kathryn, Holly, Lori and Theresa. They shared 42 years of marriage. Bill is preceded in death by: His parents John and Irene, his brothers Robert, Bernard, John, Richard, Thomas a sister Evelyn and grandson Dr. Jeffrey Beeler and Wife Joan.
He survived by children Thomas (Sue) Loosmore of River Falls, WI, Kathryn (Robert) Beeler of Hutchinson, WI, William Jr (Patti) Loosmore of Fargo, ND, Donald (Charlene) Loosmore of Spokane, WA, Holly (James) Grabinski of La Crosse, WI, Lori (Rusty) Mossburgh of Spokane, WA, Theresa (Rob) Miller of Spokane, WA, Tim (Gail) Loosmore of Post Falls, ID, 21 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grand Children, his Wife Patty (McKinney) Loosmore and her 4 children, Jenny Rencken, Linda Herbert, Robert McKinney and Patton McKinney
Funeral Services will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish in Spokane on September 10, 2016 with Father Bob Turner officiating.
