Mrs. Dorotha Ann Henderson Besore, 84, of Mount Airy, died Thursday, November 30, 2017, in Greensboro. Mrs. Besore was born January 18, 1933, in West Grove Township, Davis County, near Moulton, IA. She was the daughter of Nova Finis and Marceline Winans Henderson and was enrolled on the cradle roll at Moulton Christian Church. She was baptized and joined the Presbyterian Church on April 25, 1943, in Tolono, IL. She loved her church and served as church pianist, Sunday school teacher, and Circle Lessons leader throughout her adult life. She was ordained as a Ruling Elder in West Presbyterian Church in Binghamton, NY, on January 26, 1969, served as Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church in Mount Airy, and was a member of the Keenagers at the time of her death. She graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart, Calvin Herbert “Cal” Besore, on May 20, 1951, in the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Ida Grove, IA, and to this union two sons and a daughter were born. She was an assistant purchasing agent for Stecher Traung Lithograph Corporation in Rochester, NY, for four years and owned a research and survey company in Binghamton, NY, during the 1960s. Her life was fulfilled as a homemaker, Scout leader, grade mother, and doing all the things that wives and mothers of growing children do. She leaves to mourn her passing a daughter, Barbara Ann Besore South and her husband, Stephen, of Greensboro; a son, Charles Henry Besore and his wife, Linda, of Berlin, WI; five grandchildren, Charles Henry Besore, II and his wife, Melissa, of New Underwood, SD, Katherine Elizabeth South of Santa Rosa, CA, Steven Philip Besore of Berlin, WI, Christine Nicole South of Chapel Hill, and Jonathan Alexander Besore of Berlin, WI; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Barbara Henderson West and her husband, Randall Justin West, of Bedford, TX. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Besore was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Herbert “Cal” Besore; and a son, Calvin Herbert Besore, Jr. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 12:00 noon at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Griffin Gatewood officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11:00 until 11:45 AM at the church. A private inurnment will follow in the columbarium at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 1286, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is respectfully serving the family.
