Baker, one of the oldest residents of Marshall county, died at the home of his son, Clarence Baker, and family Monday after a long illness. He had been bedfast for five months.
Mr. Baker was a son of Hiram and Eliza Baker and was born in Marshall county November 11, 1847. He was eighty-one years, ten months and twenty-seven days old at the time of his death. In May, 1869, he was united in marriage to Harriet E. Ridgeway, who proceeded [sic] him in death. Eight children were born to them, seven of whom survive. They are Ira, Clarence and Harrison Baker of Linkville, William and Frank Baker of Plymouth, Edward Baker of Walkerton and Mrs. Milton Heyde of Bremen. He is survived also by eleven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this afternoon at Fairmont church, Rev. Mr. Jackson of Plymouth officiating.
