Permelia was the daughter of Isaac Carr and Permelia Horton. She married Harris Hanners and had 9 children with him: James Taylor Hanners, Isaac Hanners, William Henry Hanners, Nancy Elizabeth Hanners Price, Albert Sidney Hanners, Harrison Washington "Pete" Hanners, John W. Hanners aka William Henry Hemmings, Thomas Westley Hanners, and Charles H. Hanners.

Mrs. Amelia [sic] Ann Hanners died at the home of her son, Charlie Hanners, a few miles south of Lineville the first of the week. She was more than eighty years of age and the mother of a large family of children. The funeral service was held at Shiloh church and was conducted by Rev. W. M. Worthy.
