GRANGER - Betty JoAnn McCombs, 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at 6:12 am in her own home, as she wished, with loved ones nearby.

Betty was born on March 26, 1929 in Beloit, Kansas to the late Oscar Morris Merritt and Mina Dalphine (Gish) Merritt. On July 13, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas, she married the love of her life, Daniel C. McCombs. He also preceded her in death after 71 years of marriage. Shortly after their wedding they moved to Granger and lived on the family farm where the Martin's and McDonald's are today.

Surviving are her daughters, Jacqueline (Paul) Boggs of Niles, MI and Jana Ragle of Colfax, WA; a son, Daniel Roy McCombs of Cassopolis, MI; three grandchildren, Nathaniel Boggs of Osceola, Cynthia Lynn of Union, MI, and Michelle Pierce of Denver, CO, and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and ten siblings, Pauline, John Jay, Maxine, Charlotte, William “Bill”, Louis and Bob, all preceded her in death.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Tuesday, with visitation one hour prior from 10-11 am, at McGann Hay's Granger Chapel, 13260 SR 23 (enter off of Cherry Road), Rev. John Railton officiating. Burial of her ashes will follow at a later date at Smith Chapel Cemetery.
