Loyd Henry Laney passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Seymour, Texas. Visitation will be held at 6 P.M. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Seymour Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Dillon Fox, Minister of Youth at the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery.

Loyd was born to Jesse and Vida Laney in Seymour, TX where he spent his life farming and eventually met and married his sweetheart Dorothy Hons Laney. Leaving the farm, he worked as a heavy equipment operator while attending night school to earn his GED. Loyd went on to a long and successful career in the oil and gas industry with companies like Ingersoll Rand and Crawford Enterprises where he held several supervisory and managerial roles. Once retired he returned to Wichita Falls, TX where he worked with his brother-in-law K.C. Moore at K&N Engine continuing his service to the oil and gas industry.

Loyd served in the US Army during the Korean War, as a Military Policeman, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Corporal.

Loyd was an Endowed, 50-year, 32nd degree Mason of the Texas 88th Masonic District serving as a dedicated member through the Joseph A. Kemp Lodge 1287 in Wichita Falls, TX.

He is survived by sister, Betty Brigham of Seymour, TX; son Loyd H. Laney, Jr. (Sara) of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Cathy Plumlee (Shawn), of Indio, CA; four grandchildren, Jesse Laney (Sarah) of Lincoln, NE, Cody Plumlee of Los Angeles, CA, Kelsey Plumlee of Dayton, OH, and Amanda Galvan (Reuben) of Fayetteville, NC; one great grandchild, Eliana Galvan Morris; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy Hons Laney, brothers J.R. Laney, Edward Laney and Charles Laney, and sisters Dorothy Katzmark and Lois Moore.
