Hubert A. Ashby, 76, late resident of 429 W. Twelfth St., died Friday in the Veteran's Hospital, Fort Wayne, following four years' illness.
A native of Hanson, Ky., he was born Aug. 8, 1892, the son of Clarence and Grace (Henry) Ashby. He was married Jan. 10, 1917, to Helen A. McGraw, who survives.
Also surviving are one son Harvey Ashby, Peru; two grandchildren, Mrs. Larry Durham and David Ashby, both of Peru; four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Ott Haywood, Madisonville, Ky.
Mr. Ashby operated the Texaco bulk plant in Peru for 30 years. He was a World War I veteran, having served in the Army, and was a member of the American Legion.
Funeral services will be in the Eikenberry-Murray Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Tuesday with Msgr. Arthur Sego officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Sunday.
