Robert "Bruce" Emberton, 82, died April 9 at St. Francis Hospital and Health Centers in Beech Grove. He was a resident of Greenwood.

He was born Aug. 24, 1911, in Barren County, Ky. His parents were Joseph A. Emberton and Randi (Henson) Emberton. He married Velvie Austin Jan. 12, 1929. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, R.B. Emberton of Greenwood and Kenneth Emberton of Ratliff, Ky.; two daughters, Beatrice Ballinger and Carmen Hacker, both of Greenwood; 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Gail Schluter.

He was employed by Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis for 21 years, retiring in 1971. He was a member of UAW 933. He was a Navy veteran.
