A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 9:00am today in St. Joseph's Cathedral with entombment in Greenwood Mausoleum.
A native of Portland, Ore., Mr. Buono lived in San Diego for 54 years and moved to Apple Valley four years ago. Mr. Buono was graduated from San Diego High School where he took part in football and track, and later attended USC, where he also played the two sports.
During his eight years with the San Diego Police Department he was twice wounded and received department commendations for his efforts. He owned interests in tuna boats, canneries and mining ventures in Baja California. In addition to operating a bail bond company until 1958, he was employed by San Diego Gas & Electric Co.
Mr. Buono managed his son Victor's affairs until 1970 and at one time sold marine insurance.
He is survived by two sons, Victor of Apple Valley and David of Lakewood; a stepson, Louis Erreca of San Diego; his mother Rosa of San Diego; a sister, Mrs. Eleanor Looper of San Diego; two brothers, both out of the area; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
