He was born to Donald and Nellie (Dundon) Hassan. He married Pauline Axe, who precedes him in death. Then he married Florence Fifer and she survives.
Surviving are one son, Doug, Celina; four daughters, Donna (Ralph) Gardner and Debra Abels, all Celina, Diana (John) Ferguson, Grove City, and Darcy (Tim) Homan, Mendon; a step son, Jeff (Margaret) Meyers, Bryant, IN; a step daughter, Jane Horine, Portland, IN; 11 grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita (Lowell) Gagel and Jean (Bob) Schritz, all Celina; a brother-in-law, Fred Stuehr, Celina.
Deceased are three sisters, Wanda (Howard) Axe, Marcella (Fred) Dock and Thelma Stuehr.
He was a member of Coldwater United Methodist Church. He was a Veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII, member of Coldwater American Legion Post 470, Coldwater V. F. W. Post 5135 and Fraternal Order of Eagle #3025 Coldwater, OH. He was a Postal Carrier for the Coldwater Post Office retiring in 1986 with 25 years, before that he was a farmer.
