M. Suzette Paul, 78, of Eldora, Iowa died Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa. A funeral service for Suzette will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, Iowa with Rev. Allen C. Craft officiating. Burial will follow at the Eldora City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the funeral home.



Suzette was born on September 27, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to A. Glendon and Helen C. (Cannon) Leming. Suzette moved to Tulsa Oklahoma where she attended school until her sophomore year of high school, when she moved to Eldora in 1956 with her parents. After graduating from Eldora High School in 1958, Suzette attended Marshalltown Community College before moving to Burlington, Iowa to work for the Sylvania Company. After moving back to Eldora in 1960, Suzette had a brief marriage and had two children. On November 27, 1963 Suzette was united in marriage to Marvin Eugene Paul and had two more children. Suzette was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Eldora and had served in the past as a board member. She was also highly involved with The Arc and was a foster parent for many years. She also did a lot of volunteer work at the local nursing home and later became Activities Director at the local nursing home until her retirement in 1997. She then devoted her time to running her in-home babysitting and infant daycare service. Suzette was a long term member of the Eldora Chapter Weathered Wheel Red Hat Ladies where she made many good friends and made many fond memories with her Red Hat Sisters. Suzette loved life, was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She deeply enjoyed her great grandchildren until the very end.



Survivors include her loving husband, Marvin Paul of Eldora; two sons, Tracy D. Paul of Humboldt, Eric J. Paul of Eldora; two daughters, Regina D. (John) Hoeksema of Bondurant, Monica S. (Scott) Ridout of Eldora; four granddaughters, Rebekah S. (Blake) Gustafson of Eldora, Cora M. Paul of Cedar Rapids, Emma and Megan Paul of Eldora; two grandsons, Matthew (Nikki) Hoeksema of Des Moines, Andrew J. Mazurik of Eldora; five great grandchildren and one brother, George Leming of Ottumwa.



Suzette was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Martha Graves and Roberta Carl; and her grandson Michael Hoeksema.
