Samuel W. Boomer Jr., 85, died Oct. 4, 1999, at Wilton Court.

"Sam" was born in Swan Quarter, N.C., to the late Samuel W. Boomer Sr. and Evie B. Boomer. He was predeceased by his first wife, Sybil Hooper Boomer. He worked in civil service and was a member of Colonial Heights Church of Christ. He was a Mason for 56 years and a member of Berkley Lodge 167, A.F.&A.M.

He is survived by his wife, Elva S. Boomer of Chesapeake, formerly of Norfolk; three daughters, Diana Gamache and Janet Buie, both of Brownsville, Tenn., and Betty Lou Asklof of Ocklawaha, Fla.; a son, Michael K. Boomer of Virginia Beach; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens by Kenneth Gosnell. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
