James (J.B.) Boatman, 56, died Tuesday April 5, 2005 at his residence. Visitation is 4-B p.m. today and 9-1 1 a.m. Friday at Baldwin-Lee Funeral Home in Pearl. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens with full military honors.

Mr. Boatman served in the Air National Guard for 32 years, retiring in April 2000. He was a member of the Base Defense Team and served in Desert Storm. A member of the American Legion and National Rifle Association, he was on the cooking teams for the Guard and Harley Davidson of Jackson. After his retirement he worked for the Rankin County School District.

Survivors include daughters, Pamela Miller and her husband Bandy of Carson, MS, Melissa Van Buren and her husband
Bobby of Monroe, LA, Belinda Harrell and her husband Jason of Pearl; and their mother Beverly Brooks of Pearl: sisters, Jean Kimble of Carthage and Susan Myers of Bryant, AR; grand – daughter, Shelby Miller; step-grandchildren Blaze Van Buren, Brannon and Randa Miller, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children's Village, P"O. Box 27, Clinton, MS 39060.
