He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Emily Hornsby Bowman of Centreville; son, Steven Ellis Bowman, Jr.(Jennifer) of Alabaster, AL; daughters, Emily Bowman Chambliss(Jeffrey) of Orange Beach, AL and Georgia Bowman Boulton(Kevin) of White Hall, AR; grandchildren, Benjamin Bowman Fox, Jeffrey O’Gwynn Chambliss, Jr., Martha Hornsby Fox, John Bowman Chambliss, McKinnon Ellis Bowman and Catherine Leigh Bowman; brothers, Joseph Wayne Bowman of Lake Charles, LA; Ronald Ernest Bowman(Dianne) of Theodore, AL and James Daryl Bowman of San Carlos, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Horace McVeigh Bowman and Gladys Krebs Bowman; brothers, Conrad McVeigh Bowman, Gerald Gayle Bowman and Paul Michael Bowman.
Steve Bowman played football at the University of Alabama on two consecutive National Championships in 1964 and 1965. He lead the SEC in rushing and was an All American in 1965. He wants to be remembered most as someone who loved Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be University of Alabama Football A Club Lettermen of the 1960’s era.
