Vernon William White, 85, of Madison Heights, Virginia, went home to be with his Savior on Wednesday, November 15, 2017. Born on November 4, 1932, in Nelson County, he was the son of the late William Wheeler and Bertha White. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, F. Dean White. Mr. White was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He retired from American Freight Lines of Lynchburg and was an active member of Teamsters. Mr. White was fiercely proud of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by one son, Barry Vernon White and his wife, Wanda; two daughters, Melanie White Kidd and her husband, Ricky, and Melissa White Blanks; five grandchildren, Amanda W. Mills and her husband, Mike, Tonya S. Pafford and her husband, Tim, Jeremy V. White and his fianc?, Chastidy Ford, Megan S. Ramsey and her husband, Chris, and Kelsey R. Blanks; five great- grandchildren, Landen Dean Mays, Emory Rose Pafford, Avery Megan Pafford, Hadley Sloan Pafford, and Hayes Christopher Ramsey; one brother, E. Arnold White; and one sister, C. June Thacker (Paul). The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Edley Private Home Care and Linda Kinzie for their wonderful care and support of Mr. White. A private graveside service for immediate family will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Virginia Memorial Park, Forest. Whitten Park Avenue Chapel is assisting the White family (845-4521).
