Mrs. Mary Frances "Fran" Davis Worrell of 4801 Randall Drive, Wilmington, North Carolina, died Saturday, April 22, in the lower Cape Fear Hospice Center of cancer. She was born May 13, 1936, in Wilmington, North Carolina, the daughter of Elizabeth Seiter Davis of Wilmington and the late James Harris Davis, Sr. In her youth, Mrs. Worrell reigned as the 1953 N C Azalea Festival teen-age princess. She was very active with the New Hanover Senior Center "High Steppers" who represented New Hanover County in 1997, winning the gold medal in the North Carolina Silver Arts Competition in Raleigh, North Carolina. Mrs. Worrell was a charter member of the Harmony Bells Choral Group and a very active member of the Thalian Hall Volunteer Corps. Surviving are her husband, Florenze Worrell of the home, a daughter, Mrs. Laurie Ann Worrell Link and her husband, Edwin Link of Wilmington, two granddaughters, Katy and Mary Link, one brother James 'Jimmie' Davis, Jr. of Wilmington and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Ann Davis Kelly of Wilmington. She was preceded in death by her son, James 'Jimmie' Herbert Worrell.
