Mr. Altman was born in Johnsonville, SC, a son of the late Otwell and Iona Humphries Altman. He was a member of Good Hope United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching Nascar and football.

He was predeceased by a son, Carol S. Altman, Jr., daughter, Sandra Baxley Webster, grandson, Carol S. Altman, III and a brother, O.D. Altman.
