Dies at Age 66
Neelyville- Robert Gid "Dugan" Arrington, the mayor of Neelyville, died Jan 23, 1988 at 12:30 a.m. in John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO, where he had been hospitalized since Wednesday. He was a former Malden resident and had lived in Butler County since 1962. He was a farmer.

Mr. Arrington was born Aug 2, 1921, at Maldn, where he was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Coon Island Friendship Baptist Church and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was married to Velma Sturgeon on July 13, 1940, at Malden, and she survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jim (Sandy)Arrington and Gayland (Linda) Arrington, both of Neelyville; one daughter, Peggy Lybarger of Jacksonville, FL; two sisters, Ella Mae Treadway of Rochester, MI, and Lucille Pennington of Scott City; one brother, Herbert Mitchell Arrington of Malden; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, Jan 25, in Parrent Funeral Home at Naylor, with graveside services following at Memorial Park Cemetery in Malden. The Rev. Ernest Bennett will officiate, assisted by Rev. Billy Hamlett. Visitation begins at 4:00 pm today at the funeral home.
