GREENVILLE -- Charles Donald Camplin, 77, of Greenville died at 8:08 p.m. Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at his home after several months' illness.
He was born November 29, 1939, in Graham, the son of the late Josh Harrison Camplin and Ruthie Mae Steward Camplin.
He was a member of Graham Baptist Church and was a UMWA coal miner for 32 years before retiring in 1996. He was an Army veteran.
He also was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Camplin, in 2008; and son Butch Johnson in 1998.
Mr. Camplin is survived by two daughters, Belinda (Chris) Lear of Greenville and Teresa (Doyle) Shutt of Greenville; daughter-in-law Susan Johnson (Tony) Downey of Greenville; four grandchildren, Christopher Shutt of Greenville, Andrew (Katherine) Shutt of Greenville, Chelsea Johnson (Christopher) Hollman of Greenville and Daxton (Hannah) Lear of Drakesboro; three great-grandchildren, Lelan Shutt, Wyatt Shutt and Maddox Shutt; and two brothers, Raymond (Betty) Camplin of Greenville and Leonard (Alice) Camplin of Bremen.
Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Gary's Funeral Home in Greenville conducted by his grandson, the Rev. Daxton Lear.
Burial follows with military honors at Graham Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service at Gary's Funeral Home.
