Albert Alton Clarke, b. 1849, was the son of Rev. William Henry Clarke and Alice Moore Kirby Clarke. He married Penelope "Neppie" Randall on Dec 31, 1872. Together they had five children: Henry Harvey Clarke, b. 1874, Albert Alton Clarke, Jr. b. 1877, Alice Kate Clarke, b. 1879, Neppie Julia Clarke, b. 1881, and Pace Clarke, b. 1884.
Albert Alton Clarke died on Feb 9, 1922 at age 72, at his home in Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services were held at the Decatur Methodist Church, with Rev. J.M. Eakes officiating. Harry G. Poole was in charge of arrangements. Interment in the Decatur Cemetery - South Section, known as the "Old Cemetery" Lot 34, 229 Bell St, Decatur, GA 30030.
