According to family tradition, the Albemarle County crossroads of SIMEON was named for him--the family lived on the Colle farm from the 1870s through the early years of the 1900s. Simeon Marshall was serving as Postmaster there in 1889.

C. M. Hoover today received word from Charlottesville, Va., to the effect that Simeon H. Marshall, a native of and for many years a resident of Venango county, had died there last Monday. The Interment took place on Wednesday. The deceased was 88 years old and was born in Scrubgrass township. He came to Franklin in 1852 and for many years was a storekeeper near the Valley bridge. That was in the boating days on the river. In the 70s the family moved away. His wife, who died a number of years ago, was Mary Jane Hoover, a full cousin of C. M. Hoover. Mr. Marshall was an uncle of Mrs. F. W. Officer and of Mary and Daisy McClintock.
