Nancy Flitcroft Rigby was born in England in 1845, the daughter of William and Betsey Flitcroft. Nancy arrived on the ship S.S. Iowa in Boston on 10/7/1886, along with daughter Elizabeth, age 5 at the time. Her husband, John W. Rigby, had arrived a few months earlier on the S.S. Galia on 6/3/1886 with their two sons Christopher E Rigby (age 11) and Richard William Rigby (age 9).

Her son Christopher married Catherine A Norris on 7/7/1896 in New Bedford. Their children are Marion H Rigby born 8/20/1898, Richard N. Rigby born 12/5/1899, Edward V. Rigby born 4/9/1901, and James H Rigby (or Harold J Rigby) born 2/25/1905, Ellis C Rigby born 1903.

Her son Richard married Mary Palme on 6/14/1899. Mary's father was William (Wilhelm) Palme. Their children are Louise Rigby (Clark) born 8/26/1899 and Frederick Rigby born in 1902. Louise married Harold R Clark and they had a daughter Mary Louise Clark born in New Bedford around 1931. Mary Louise is the great-grandaughter of Nancy Rigby.

According to her death certificate, Nancy Rigby died of bronchitis at the age of 64 on 1/25/1909 in New Bedford and was buried at Oak Grove Cemetery.
