Sharon was a very good friend of mine. I met her when I was volunteering with a cat rescue group and she adopted some of the cats. She ended up joining the group, and was a great foster mom to many kitties.

In Manassas, VA, Sharon was the accountant for a printing company called Vertis. A few years ago the company was bought by a larger printing company, and not long after the merger she lost her job. At the same time, her younger sister passed away. In addition, because she had no income, she lost her house. It was a terrible time.

She left the area and moved to Florida to be near her other sister. There she took some part-time jobs. She was not feeling well and wasn't able to work full time. She made the rounds to various doctors, who all told her it was all part of the aging process, until she found one at the University of Florida Medical Center who specialized in Multiple Sclerosis, which she thought she had. That doctor confirmed the diagnosis.

Sharon was placed on a special MS medication, but continued to go downhill rapidly. She fell repeatedly and eventually couldn't walk at all. She was admitted to the hospital where it was discovered that she had adenocarcinoma and it had metastasized all throughout her body, which was why she had many broken bones. The doctors thought they could help her, but right before she was to start on chemotherapy, they told her they weren't going to do the chemo after all, because she was too weak. They told her there was nothing they could do.

At that point, she asked to be transferred to the hospice facility, which was done. She stayed there until they could control her pain and nausea, and then transferred her to Isle Health & Rehab Center in Fleming Island, FL. She passed away there a short time later, with her sister by her side. She was buried next to their younger sister in the family plot.

Sharon is survived by her beloved "fur children" who now have new loving homes: her dog, Teddy, and her 3 cats, Neko, Gwahir, and Casey. She is also survived by her human family: her sister, her husband & their son, and her half-brother, his wife and their son & daughter, as well as many friends.

I miss her already.

Thank you so much to everyone who stops by to visit Sharon. We are very grateful. We are devastated by her loss.
