Everett Edgar Dukes, Jr., age 81 of Sparta, NC passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at his residence.
He was born August 28, 1936 in St. Joseph County, Indiana to the late Everett Edgar Dukes, Sr., and Evelyn Miller Dukes.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Ann Dukes Bailey.
Everett served his country in the United States Air Force. He graduated from Purdue University in Lafayette, Indiana with a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering.
He is survived by his wife, Alice Rose Dukes of the home; one son, Mark Everett Dukes and wife Audrey of Charlotte; one daughter, Michelle Dukes of Charlotte; one stepson, Eldon Nelson and wife Amy of Greenville, SC; one grandson, Christopher Dukes and wife Jackie of Wingate; one great-grandson, Sammy Dukes of Wingate; one brother, Dennis Dukes of South Bend, IN; two sisters, Karolyn Scott and husband Bill of South Bend, IN, Sharon Quimby of Edwardsburg, MI; several nieces and nephews also survive.
The family requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service to honor the life of Everett at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at Sparta United Methodist Church with Pastor Bob Miller officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. in Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening at the funeral home.
