Westminster friends were sorry to learn of the death, July 4th, at Gardena. Calif., of Benjamin De Spain, a pioneer of Westminster. Mr. De Spain had been in failing health for some years, and had for the past few years made his home with his daughter, Mrs. L. Dallas Mulford. Mrs. Mulford brought the body to Colorado for burial, and the funeral was held from Olinger's Thursday afternoon.

In the 1920 Federal census, Ben (age 70) and Rosa (age 60) were living in Denver, Colorado. Ben, a farmer, was born in Illinois. Rosa was born in Kansas.

Benjamin DeSpain was born on May 18 1849 in Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois. He died on Jul 4 1924 in Westminster, Adams County, Colorado. Parents: Pleasant DeSpain Sr. and Sarah Rambeau Mutter .
He was married to Rosa (I. or Q.) Sims on Sep 17 1874. Children were: Frank DeSpain, William (Willie) C. DeSpain, Mary DeSpain.
