DARBY, Clare Arnold - Beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, died July 9, 2003 at Orlando Regional Medical Center. Born April 22, 1923 in Flint, MI, he was preceded in death by his father and mother, Lloyd and Cecil Darby, as well as his brothers Dale and Fred. Clare is survived by his sisters Loydine Drake and Lerayne Smith, his six children and five grandchildren, and close friend Lois Shelton of Orlando, FL. His children are Dayle, Richard and family, Kymberly and family, Douglas, Kent and Jennifer and family. He graduated from Beecher High School in Flint, MI and attended UCLA and General Motors Institute before serving his country in the European Theater of World War II. At age 75, Clare retired from Orange County's Vehicle Maintenance Department but remained on the part time staff at Mid Florida Technical Institute where he taught Machining and Millwrighting. An active member of the Florida Publinx, his love of golf was well known by his many friends at Lakeshore Landings. He will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 on Thursday, July 17, 2003 at Lakeshore Landings, 2000 West 33rd. Street, Orlando, FL.
