Barry Ray "Dean" Gentry, 60, passed away Sunday, Jan. 15, 2017 at his home following an extended illness. He was a native of Davidson Co. and lived in Shelbyville.

He is survived by his parents, Charles Gentry & Elvena Todd Gentry of Petersburg; Wife, Patty Smith of Shelbyville; Children, Barry Ray (Kathy Lynn) Murphy and Amy Michelle (Jody) Swygert both of Chattanooga and Christy Lynn Smith of Shelbyville; Siblings,Pam (Ronnie) Goodson, Ricky Gentry and Patricia (Bryce) Poteete all of LaVergne, Donna (Tim) Hill of Petersburg, Sam (Cindy) Gentry of Lebanon and Clay Gentry of Smyrna; Also surviving are 4 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Allen Wade Gentry.

Dean was a member of the Baptist church and was a commercial painter. He loved to watch Nascar and his favorite driver is Dale Earnhardt.

Funeral Services will be 12 noon Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in the Chapel of Woodbury Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Centerhill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 4 pm until 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Woodbury Funeral Home to help his family with funeral expenses.
